Engaging for sustainable Growth : getting the policy framework fit for purpose

In the context of the finalisation by the European Commission of the “Fitness Check” on the impact of EU regulation on the competitiveness of the aluminium industry, the European Aluminium Association (EAA) reaffirms its support to enhanced sustainability commitments and resource efficient solutions. Since 2002, EAA has been regularly reporting on the industry’s Sustainable Development Indicators (SDIs) to document the sector’s efforts towards a competitive, socially daring and environmentally-friendly industry. Policy-makers and stakeholders are invited to discover the EAA Sustainable Development Indicators 2012 highlights ranging from production-related indicators and aluminium use in key market segments to recycling performances over the last three years. The results of the Commission’s assessment on the cumulative impact of the EU regulatory framework will then serve as a starting point for a panel composed of MEPs, Member States’ representatives, NGOs and industry leaders to discuss concrete measures and enabling policies that are urgently needed to reindustrialise Europe while renewing ambitious sustainability targets.Register and view the full programme
