Novelis’ Tadeu Nardocci, new chairman of the European Aluminium Association

The European Aluminium Association (EAA) is pleased to announce that Tadeu Nardocci, President of Novelis Europe, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the association. Effective January 1st, 2011, Mr. Nardocci succeeds Alcoa’s Marcos Ramos in this honorary role.

“I am delighted to take on this leadership role in our industry”, said Nardocci. “The EAA successfully provides a single voice for a sector that is diverse, yet united in its focus on providing competitive and intelligent solutions for a sustainable future”.

Patrick de Schrynmakers, EAA Secretary General added: “The appointment of Tadeu Nardocci marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of EAA as it is the first time the association will be chaired by a CEO from the downstream and recycling industry. We are fully confident that in these challenging times - this will be beneficial to the association”.

Tadeu Nardocci

Tadeu Nardocci is senior vice-president and president, Novelis Europe. Appointed as president, Novelis Europe in June 2009, he oversees 13 manufacturing facilities across Europe which produce rolled aluminium products for many markets including automotive, building, packaging, transportation and printing.

Mr. Nardocci served as senior vice president of Novelis leading the company’s innovation, technology and business strategy prior to his current appointment. Before this role, he served as president, Novelis South America, where he led all aspects of the companys business in this region.

Prior to the formation of Novelis, Mr. Nardocci had been with Alcan since 1980. He progressed through the organization holding several manufacturing and operations positions before being named to the position of managing director for Alcan’s Southeast Asian business, based in Kuala Lumpur. In July 2002, he was appointed president of Alcan Brazil Rolled Products, which eventually became Novelis in the spin-off from Alcan in 2005.

Born in Sao Paulo, Mr. Nardocci graduated from University of Sao Paulo with a degree in metallurgy. He has also attended post-graduation courses in business administration in Brazil and the United States, among other formal education programs.
