How to become a member? How is EAA structured?
Who can be a member?

Membership to the European Aluminium Association is granted to two different entities located within the European Union, Turkey and EFTA countries:

Industrial firms : primary aluminium producers, downstream manufacturers, producers of recycled aluminium

National associations representing the manufacturers of rolled and extruded products

Below, you can find more information related to membership conditions:

Primary division membership

Direct membership mainly concerns primary aluminium smelters. Fees are on the basis of tonne production, provided that they have smelters in at least one European country. These companies must also be and remain member of the national aluminium association in all European countries where they have production facilities, insofar such national aluminium association exists or unless they resign from the national aluminium association for proper reasons. Wire producers are also entitled to join as primary division members.

Rollers division membership

Direct membership is open to all companies on the basis of tonne transformation, provided that factories are located in at least one European country. Some members are also indirectly part of EAA through national association.

Extrusion division membership

The same terms apply here as those for Rollers division membership.

EAA Recycling division membership

The Organisation of the European Aluminium Recycling Industry (OEA) is integrated in EAA as the Recycling division, which is a separate legal structure representing the refiners. All remelters are members of the Recycling division. Fees are based on tonne scrap intake for remelters and on tonne production for refiners.

Associated members

Under the EAA by-laws, companies that are not eligible for direct membership, but which are considered to contribute usefully and efficiently to the primary objective of the Association, shall be eligible for associated membership.

Market groups membership

EAA encompasses three Market Groups to which members can join, in addition to their EAA membership:

Building

• Packaging

• Automotive and transport.

Their objective is the generic promotion of aluminium in end-use market on a non-competitive basis. This endorsement is carried out through political and technical issue advocacy, press campaigns, standards monitoring, and other communication supports and media (trade fairs, design competitions, educational tools and web-based information). Market group membership is voluntary and relies on a separate fee basis approved yearly or for three years by the ad-hoc boards.
